BWA Architecture performed a comprehensive investigation of the three-story Courthouse building to identify existing deficiencies and propose building improvements. Subsequent design and construction modifications included utilities upgrades featuring a new HVAC system, a new mechanical hot water energy-efficient boiler system, new dedicated digital control systems, select wall and floor finish upgrades, life safety improvements, and fire protection. In order to bring the building up to MAAB compliance, BWA designed a new attractive light-filled, steel-frame addition to the building that now serves as the main accessible entrance to the courthouse.
