BWA Architecture teamed with Common Ground Development Corporation (CGDC) and the Dracut Housing Authority (DHA) to provide conceptual building designs, construction documents, and construction administration services for sixty (60) one- and two-bedroom units for seniors age 62+ on 17 acres in Dracut, MA. BWA assisted CGDC and the DHA to obtain a comprehensive permit through a year-long public process during the height of Covid and obtained funding through DHCD’s OneStop program after 3 rounds of submissions.

Bounded by wetlands on all sides, the design respects the challenging site and the adjacent neighborhood. The building form and placement on the site minimize the impact on the wetlands. The form also allows for amenity spaces to be located centrally, including a welcoming front entry and an outdoor area that can serve as an extension of the community room.
